| Welcome
to the 5-minute PowerResearcher, step-by-step, Quick and Easy
Tutorial. You may prefer to print this tutorial for easy reference.
| Do
you know how to use Microsoft Explorer/File Manager? How about
Word and Excel and Internet Explorer to surf the Internet? Then
you already know most of PowerResearcher! PowerResearcher combines
all of these separate programs in one single, easy-to-use program.
| Just
follow these easy steps to create your first project, capture
a web page and use text from that site in your Word document. |
| Getting
Started |
| |
1.
Launch PowerResearcher. Then Click on the Organize tab: |
| |
| |
| |
2.
You will see three window panes:
| |
The
top left is your Project Tree/File Manager, just like Explorer. |
| |
The
top right is your Content Pane and Work Area, where your Word,
Excel, Attachments and other useful information will appear. |
| |
The
bottom pane is your Browser Pane where you surf the Net or your
saved websites will appear. Saved websites are indicated by the
“Saved” flag in the top right hand corner of the Browser
Pane. |
| |
| |
3.
Now type the URL “www.msmoney.com” in the address
bar of the Browser Pane and press Enter. |
| |
4.
The website www.msmoney.com will appear in your Browser Pane.
| |
5.
To capture and save the web page, simply drag the Internet Explorer
icon from the Project Pane Toolbar down and position it anywhere
you want i n the Project Tree. |
| |
6.
The Content Pane will now show the captured page, while the Browser
Pane at the bottom still shows the live page (They look the same,
but the one is a live website while the other is saved web content
that remains on your computer).* |
| |

Note:
If you are using PowerResearcher ASP, the captured page resides
in your storage area on our servers. |
| |
Helpful
hint: Merely dragging the saved website Icons from the Project
Tree into the Browser Pane will display the live web pages in
the Browser Pane instantly. |
| Creating
a Word* or Excel Document |
If
Microsoft Office is not installed on your computer, PowerResearcher
automatically uses a generic RTF editor which is a powerful word
processing tool in its own right. |
| |
1.
To create a Word document, simply drag the Word icon from
the Project Pane Toolbar and position it anywhere you want
in the Project Tree. Wait for Word to load and Voilá!
Opening a Word document has never been easier.
| |
2.
Follow the same procedure to create an Excel spreadsheet or
an RTF (Rich Text Format) document, but using the appropriate
icon.
| |

| |
| |
3.
Now place the cursor in your Word document where you want to
insert content from the MSMoney website. |
| |
| |
Highlight
some text in the browser pane and press the right mouse button
to bring up the pop-up menu. On the menu, click on “Paste
into Page”. |
| |
| |
The
text you selected is pasted into your Word document.
If you had chosen a picture, you would use “Paste image
into page” instead. |
| |

| |
| |
6.
Your visit to the www.msmoney website has been recorded in the
Research Log. Click on the Log tab |
| |

You can now see a history of the actions you have performed |
| |
. |
