In the Project Pane to the right, you will see an example of the PowerResearcher Tutorial. This is actually a PowerResearcher project file with the .prp file extension.
When you first start PowerResearcher, you will be shown instructions for opening and using the self-paced Tutorial.
Anytime you start PowerResearcher,
a blank project is ready for you to begin work. You have the choice to work
with this blank (new) project, or open an existing project. You follow the
same process as you do for most other software programs – just click
on the
Open icon
in the PowerResearcher toolbar.
To rename an element, just right-click the element name you want to rename. A submenu will appear and contain a Rename command (see the figure on the left). Just click the Rename command and modify the element name.
Saving a project is just like saving in other applications. You just click on the Save icon in the toolbar or click File / Save (or Save As) in the menu bar.
As with most other software programs, the first time you save a new project, you will be prompted to enter a project name. Every time you save after that, it overwrites the existing file and does not ask you for a project name.
That’s it for creating a new project, opening an existing project, renaming an element, and saving a project. You are now ready to begin Module 3.
